YWCA Greenwich Opens a Nursery

1970s, prior to moving to the new building YWCA Greenwich had a nursery so mothers could attend classes. In 1970, infants to five-year old’s could play in a room donated by the Lunsford Richardson family, while mothers pursued vocational interests, including bridge, sketching class, gardening, decorating, piano lessons or film appreciation. Mary Jenkins ran the nursery in the early ‘70s and Mary Zygmont took it over in the mid-seventy’s.  In 1983, the Town of Greenwich issued the YWCA its first license for preschool.
