Save trading stamps and collects $18,000

1969, YWCA Greenwich purchased a Volkswagen bus from the proceeds of the trading stamps campaign, “A Bus for Us,” that was run by Alice Scanlon. In addition, she was able to purchase dishwashers, office equipment, a piano and a movie projector. Alice had spent years encouraging others to donate their stamps and collects $18,000.

YWCA Wives’ Club

1969, the YWCA Wives’ Club, established during wartime to help the wives of servicemen, eventually introduced their husbands into the program, and it took the place of a “newcomers” club in Greenwich. It later became the Greenwich Neighbors Club.
